The Easter Project

Spreading care, dignity, and joy this spring

This spring, Homesteaders for the Holidays is launching The Easter Project, a seasonal giving initiative designed to support women, children, animals, and, if donations allow, seniors in our local community.

Through trusted nonprofit partnerships, we are collecting essential items and thoughtful Easter gifts to ensure no one feels overlooked this spring.

Donation deadline: March 21
How to give: Amazon Wishlist + monetary donations

Items for Women

Partnering Organization:
East Texas Crisis Center

We are collecting personal and beauty care items that help women feel cared for and confident, including:

  • Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash

  • Lotion, deodorant, and oral care items

  • Hair care products and basic self-care essentials

Easter baskets for children

We are assembling 30 Easter baskets filled with cheerful, age-appropriate items such as:

  • Spring-themed toys

  • Stuffed animals

  • Coloring books and art supplies

  • Small surprises to make Easter feel special

A special need: swimwear

The Crisis Center regularly takes children to the pool as part of healing, recreation, and community outings. Many children arrive without appropriate swimwear.

We are collecting new swimsuits in a wide range of sizes and styles, ensuring every child can participate comfortably and with confidence.

Supporting Animals in Need

Partner Organization:
Nicholas Pet Haven (Tyler, TX)

Nicholas Pet Haven rescues and cares for dogs and cats in East Texas who are waiting for safe, loving homes. As part of The Easter Project, we are gathering essential supplies to help meet their daily needs.

We are collecting:

  • Dog and cat food

  • Puppy pads

  • Kitten and puppy formula

  • Toys and enrichment items

  • Basic care supplies

These donations directly support rescued animals while easing the burden on the volunteers and foster families who care for them.

If Donations Allow: Easter Baskets for Seniors

If donations exceed our primary goals, we plan to assemble small Easter baskets for residents of a local senior home. Many seniors experience loneliness during holidays, and even a simple basket can be a meaningful reminder that they are remembered and valued.

How You Can Help

There are several ways to support The Easter Project and make a meaningful difference this spring:

  • Shop the Amazon Wishlists (see buttons above)
Items ship directly and ensure we receive exactly what our partners need most.

  • Make a monetary donation
Donations help fill gaps, purchase remaining supplies, and support partner organizations.

  • Share The Easter Project
Spreading the word helps us reach more people who want to give.

All donations are distributed through trusted nonprofit partners who serve their communities directly.

Why The Easter Project Matters

Holidays like Easter can be especially difficult for individuals and families facing hardship. A simple basket, a needed item, or a small comfort can help someone feel seen, supported, and cared for.

The Easter Project exists to remind people and animals in need that they are not alone — and that kindness, when shared, can be powerful.

There is no act of generosity too small.
